Utilities Director Aaron Reinhart told the Mount Vernon News that the city is filling two new positions, the assistant director of collections and distribution through an internal promotion of a crew chief.

Henry Anthony LaBrun (85), a resident of Fort Myers, Florida, died peacefully the morning of Feb. 17, 2023, following a recent illness.

MOUNT VERNON – Vandals knocked down and damaged tombstones at the city’s cemetery and set fire to a piece of playground equipment at Harmony Park last weekend, Mount Vernon Public Works Director Tom Hinkle said.

South Clinton Street will be closed to all traffic, including emergency traffic, on Wednesday, March 8, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. between East High Street and East Vine Street.

Prospect Street will be closed to all traffic between Calhoun Street and Scott Street for water line repair, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, March 6.

MOUNT VERNON – The city will start repairing brick street potholes with the first contract in a new program approved by the Mount Vernon City Council.

The Mount Vernon City Council postponed a final vote on the Liberty Crossing housing development until its March 13 meeting to give more residents time to make comments and ask questions about the Newark Road planned neighborhood development.

Mark Kevin Farley, 62, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday Feb. 24, 2023, at Majestic Care in Connersville, Indiana.

The Fredericktown High School Alumni Association is pleased to announce that a new scholarship has been established to honor the lives of Rusty and Mary Dalrymple and their oldest son, David, for their deep commitment to the Fredericktown schools and community over many years.
