MOUNT VERNON – Olivia M. Frazee, 72, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton, in Dayton. She was born June 27, 1950, to Clyde and Helen (Strouse) Baker at Mercy Hospital, Mount Vernon. She graduated from the old Mount Vernon High School in 1969. Growing up, she enjoyed swimming and piano lessons and participated in Girl Scouts. After graduation, she was trained at the Goodwill Training School and worked there until she married.

Olivia enjoyed helping with the Hot Meals ministry on Friday nights at the Gay Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member. She was friendly to everyone and always willing to lend a helping hand. She was often seen walking to or from the shopping centers. Sometimes the walks were to purchase something at a store, but often just to get out and socialize with acquaintances. She walked at least 5 miles a day in any weather. The Mount Vernon News wrote several articles about her walking for exercise and weight control.

She is survived by a daughter, Alice M. Cline, also of Mount Vernon, and two beloved cats, Stubby and Ozzie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert E. Frazee, who died in 1986; and many aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at Gay Street United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 14, at 7 p.m., immediately following the time of remembrance in the church parlor.

Submitted by Alice Cline.
