Jeeps & Java Community Rock Hunt | Sponsler CDJR of Mount Vernon, Facebook

Experience the first Jeeps & Java Community Rock Hunt in Mount Vernon this summer, which blends creativity, exploration, and community spirit.

The event, hosted by Sponsler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in partnership with the YMCA of Mount Vernon Summer Program, begins on Tuesday, July 13, when 100 hand‑painted rocks created by local children are hidden throughout the city.

The hunt runs through Friday, July 31, culminating in rock redemption at Sponsler CDJR’s Jeeps & Java gathering on Saturday, August 1, at 500 Harcourt Road. The event will be guided by clues, updates, and artist spotlights shared on social media.

“Our goal is to create something that brings families together while highlighting the creativity of local kids and encouraging people to explore everything Mount Vernon has to offer,” Amber Morrison, Marketing & Events Director for Sponsler CDJR, said. “This is about community involvement, supporting local businesses, and creating a fun experience for families throughout the month.”

The event also features a playful twist: Sponsler CDJR is inviting the public to vote on a name for its new seven‑foot inflatable duck, which will be stationed outside the dealership on Harcourt Road. The winning name will be revealed live during Jeeps & Java on August 1. Jeeps & Java itself promises a lively morning for Jeep enthusiasts and families alike. From 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., attendees can enjoy complimentary coffee for the first 50 guests, network with fellow Jeep owners, redeem scavenger hunt rocks for ducks, and witness the official duck‑naming reveal. BH Coffee Trailer will be on site, and local businesses will host tables to connect with the community.

The YMCA Summer Program participants, approximately 80 children, will paint the rocks during the week of July 6–10, ensuring each piece is unique. Sponsler CDJR will highlight these young artists throughout the hunt, reinforcing the event’s focus on youth creativity and community pride.

Building on that spirit of creativity, Sponsler CDJR is expanding the initiative by partnering with local businesses and organizations to transform the Rock Hunt into a true community‑wide adventure.

"We'll be partnering with several amazing local businesses and organizations to make this a true community-wide adventure," Sponsler CDJR of Mount Vernon stated. "We'll be announcing those partners soon! This is more than a scavenger hunt—it's a chance to explore Mount Vernon, support local businesses, and celebrate the creativity of our local kids."
