Centerburg High School’s baseball team opened its season with a commanding 15–3 non-conference win over Elgin High School.

The Trojans’ victory came Saturday, March 28, at Elgin High School.

Centerburg struck quickly, setting the tone with three runs in the opening frame before adding four more in the second inning to build a commanding early lead. The Trojans showcased patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning, forcing Elgin’s defense into mistakes that piled up as the game progressed. Although the Comets managed a brief spark in the fourth inning with three runs, Centerburg’s pitching staff settled in and shut the door from there. The Trojans’ offense continued to apply pressure, highlighted by a relentless seven-run rally in the seventh inning that sealed the 15–3 victory and underscored their dominance.

Centerburg extended its dominance over Elgin, pushing its winning streak in the series to eight straight, according to MaxPreps. The Trojans had also blanked the Comets in their previous meeting on May 19, 2025, with a decisive 13–0 victory.

The Centerburg (OH) varsity baseball team won Monday's home non-conference game against Elgin (Marion, OH) by a score of 13-0.

Last season, Centerburg compiled a 17–9 overall record with a .654 winning percentage, highlighted by a 12–2 mark in Knox Morrow Athletic Conference play. The Trojans were strong at home (9–4) and steady on the road (7–5), outscoring opponents 174–94. Elgin, meanwhile, closed last season at 12–9 overall with a .571 winning percentage, finishing fifth in the Northwest Central Conference with a 6–3 record. Entering this season opener against Centerburg, Elgin carried that fifth-place conference ranking, underscoring the contrast between the Trojans’ top-tier standing and the Comets’ mid-pack position.

Centerburg’s next matchup is a home conference game against Northmor on Tuesday, April 7, at 5:15 p.m. The Trojans will look to carry their offensive momentum into league play, where every win is crucial for maintaining their position atop the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference.

The last meeting between Centerburg and Northmor came on April 3, 2025, when the Trojans earned a 5–3 road victory. That contest was tightly contested, with Centerburg finding clutch hits late to secure the edge. The upcoming game offers Centerburg another chance to extend its winning streak in the series and reinforce its reputation as one of the conference’s most consistent programs.
