Utica wrestling had a busy weekend at districts, with the boys team at Coschocton High School on March 6 and 7, while the girls wrestled at Big Walnut High School on March 7 and 8.

Connor Wygle, who is on track to at least tie for best freshman season, went 2-1 for second in his weight class. Wygle will compete in the state tournament on March 13-15, and will be the only Utica wrestler to make it out of the district tournament.

Fellow freshman Grayson Taylor went 2-2 on the day and was just one win short of accompanying Wygle to states. Juniors Julian Harvey and Jack Fletcher also went 2-2 in their respective weight classes.

On the girls' side, wrestlers Hailey Wygle, Taleah Clark, and Ainsley Kerstetter. Wygle, a junior in her third year of wrestling, went the furthest of the three, going 2-2, but did not make it out of districts. Clark capped her season by advancing farther than any freshman in the history of the girls’ program, finishing with a 1–2 record.

Kerstetter also finished off her impressive season at districts.

The state tournament is held on Ohio State’s campus in the Schottenstein Center. This will be the second consecutive year that Utica has sent a wrestler to the state tournament, with Breyden Hill representing the Redskins in the 2025 tournament.
