Both the boys and girls Utica wrestling team competed in their sectionals tournament, the boys with four wrestlers making it through to districts, and the girls with three moving on.

The girls team placed twelfth out of twenty-four teams, and the boys placed sixth.

The girls sectionals took place at Marysville High School on Sunday, March 1, while the boys competed at Ridgedale High School on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The girls placers were Hailey Wygle, Taleah Clark, and Ainsley Kerstetter.

H. Wygle went 2-2 on the day, winning her first two matches. Clark also went 2-2 on the day, winning her middle two matches. Kerstetter competed in the most matches and went 4-2, only losing her first and last match.

All three girls placed fourth within their weight classes.

Joslyn Snyder and Brooklyn Macy demonstrated a strong performance as well. Snyder left an interesting mark on the competition, showing great endurance by recording the longest match on the day with four overtimes.

The boys who moved on were freshmen Connor Wygle and Grayson Taylor, and juniors Jack Fletcher and Julian Harvey.

C. Wygle claimed first in his weight class with a 3-0 record, and Taylor, Fletcher, and Harvey all placed second.

Taylor only lost his last match, going 2-1 on the day. Fletcher, in a less populated weight class, went 1-1, and Harvey went 2-1.
