Men's volleyball team from Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) faced its first home match of the season against Wittenberg University at Ariel Arena. The match, held on January 29, ended in a four-set loss for MVNU, marking their first defeat of the 2026 season. The Cougars struggled initially, losing the first set 25-12 and the second set 25-21. However, they managed to secure a win in the third set with a score of 25-23, thanks to Ethan Cline's decisive back-to-back kills.

Despite their efforts, MVNU could not maintain the momentum in the fourth set as Wittenberg quickly established a lead and won 25-10. Key performances for MVNU included Cline with nine kills, five digs, and three blocks; Tommy Tierney with seven kills and eight digs; Noah Wineberg contributing six kills and six blocks; Tyler Monnin leading with ten digs; and Jaxson Snell providing 23 assists.

The next match for MVNU is scheduled against Aquinas at Ariel Arena on January 31 at 2:00 p.m. Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a private Christian institution offering education to nearly 2,200 students across various states and countries.
