The Redskins girls' basketball team concluded their holiday break with a victory against Sheridan, securing a 48-42 win.

The game took place at Utica High School on December 29. According to reports, the offensive efforts from both Sheridan and Utica were evenly matched throughout the game. The Redskins held a three-point lead going into the second half but quickly fell behind by six points early in the third quarter due to field goals from Sheridan. However, junior Emily Ritzer's late-game scoring push helped lift the Redskins to a narrow victory.

Makena Wilson has emerged as a dominant player for Utica. She led the team with twenty-two points during the game, contributing nearly half of Utica's total score. Wilson has consistently been Utica’s leading scorer this season. Ritzer also made significant contributions with thirteen points, ranking second in scoring for Utica.

Sheridan's Ivy Jones played a crucial role in keeping her team competitive, particularly in the fourth quarter when Ritzer and Wilson intensified their efforts to secure the win.

Utica is scheduled to play again on January 9, facing Lakewood after a brief pause in their schedule.
