Mount Vernon seniors Alex Taylor and Ash Brokaw delivered podium-level performances while competing against the nation’s best at the Ironman Tournament, one of high school wrestling’s most prestigious invite-only events.
The tournament took place on December 13 at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
According to reports, Taylor advanced to the finals with a dramatic 5–4 semifinal victory before finishing as the Ironman runner-up. He showcased poise and composure in a series of tight, high-level matches.
Brokaw battled through a stacked bracket to earn a fifth-place finish. He opened the tournament with a 13–6 first-round win and a dominant 19–3 second-round victory before falling in the quarterfinals.
Competing on one of the sport’s biggest stages, both athletes represented Mount Vernon and Jacket Nation with discipline, competitiveness, and consistency. This marks the second consecutive year that the program has produced multiple Ironman placers, reinforcing its standing among the elite programs in the country.
