Mount Vernon High School secured a third-place finish at the John Brown Memorial Tournament, with notable individual titles claimed by Alex Taylor and Trevor Jones.

The tournament was held on December 6 at Mount Vernon High School. 

Senior Alex Taylor delivered a strong performance, winning first place in his weight class and earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler award. His dominant run set the tone for Mount Vernon, which achieved multiple podium finishes despite facing deep competition across several divisions. Freshman Trevor Jones also contributed significantly to Mount Vernon's success by securing a first-place title in his debut appearance at the tournament, marking an impressive start to his high school wrestling career.

According to coaches, Mount Vernon gained crucial points from Maverick Gregory and Gabe Kiser, both of whom navigated competitive brackets to earn second-place finishes. Their performances were instrumental in solidifying the team’s third-place standing against a field that included several established programs. The coaching staff praised the team’s consistency and resilience throughout the event, highlighting the mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent.

With two champions and four total finalists, Mount Vernon concluded the tournament with momentum as they progress further into their winter schedule.
