Fredericktown held off Utica 39-37 on Tuesday in a tight non-conference matchup decided in the final minutes.
The game was played on Nov. 25, 2025, at Utica High School.
Fredericktown relied on a balanced offensive effort, highlighted by senior Mya Bryant’s 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting, to overcome a determined Utica squad that stayed within striking distance all night. Senior Vika Arnett added nine points, including two key 3-pointers, while senior Ella Bouton chipped in seven points and seven rebounds to help stabilize the Freddies whenever momentum shifted. Fredericktown shot 27 percent from the field but made timely baskets, finishing 9-of-14 from the free-throw line to preserve the lead late.
Utica opened with a 6-4 edge after the first quarter and continued to trade baskets with the Freddies, but the Redskins were unable to match Fredericktown’s fourth-quarter push, when the visitors scored 15 points—their highest-scoring frame of the night. Despite being outpaced on offense, Utica’s defensive pressure forced 12 turnovers, allowing the Redskins to stay within two possessions in the final minute.
Fredericktown improved to 1-0 with the win, while Utica dropped to 0-1 and will look to regroup as it continues its non-conference slate.
