The Utica football team fought an abundance of adversity during their season. With the injuries of a multitude of key players, many players were moved around creating a lack of consistency.
One strength was Utica’s senior o-linemen. Chris Harris, Trayden Oliver, and Bryson Macy stood strong through the entire season. “All three of them together provided great leadership for our offensive line,” said Utica’s Coach Rowley.
Across the season, opponents only tallied eight sacks on Utica, a stat that reflects impressively on the o-line.
The o-line does not have measurable stats, making the position a thankless job. The number of sacks against is the only number that can speak to the skill and experience of these players. While there are no stats to show, each of these athletes tallied impressive numbers on defense.
Harris racked up thirty tackles and a nineteen-yard interception return. “Chris plays with great effort every play and really sets the tone for our team,” Coach Rowley said.
“Bryson has been a tremendous player on both our offensive and defensive lines being a two-way starter and rarely leaving the field,” said Coach Rowley. Macy had thirty tackles on the season.
Oliver put up twenty-one tackles. “Trayden has shown great growth as a player and worked himself into a starting role during his senior season,” Rowley told the Mount Vernon News.
