The Mt. Vernon boys basketball team is set to begin its 2024–25 season on November 26 with a non-conference game against Centerburg. The Yellow Jackets, currently holding a 0–0 record, are positioned at the top of the conference preseason standings, creating anticipation for a competitive winter season.

According to the team's schedule, Mt. Vernon will face a challenging array of both conference and non-league opponents in its opening month. Following their road opener, the team will host Highland on December 3 before engaging in several league contests, including an away game at Johnstown-Monroe on December 10 and a significant home match against Licking Valley on December 13.

December offers numerous opportunities for Mt. Vernon to establish momentum, with home games against Northridge, Watkins Memorial, and Hayes. The month concludes with an away game at Madison Comprehensive. One of the season's most formidable challenges occurs when the Yellow Jackets travel to Newark on January 3.

The core of the schedule is dominated by conference play, featuring both home and away games against Licking Heights, Granville, Zanesville, and Licking Valley. Additionally, Mt. Vernon will host Heath and Lakewood in crucial midseason encounters.

The regular season will wrap up on February 27 when Mt. Vernon hosts Olentangy Berlin in a non-conference finale that could provide critical momentum heading into postseason competition.
