The Mt. Vernon Yellow Jackets continued their strong conference play, defeating the Licking Heights Hornets 42-13 in front of their home crowd.
On October 10, 2025, Mt. Vernon showcased a balanced offense and hard-hitting defense from the opening whistle. Senior quarterback Mason Richards led the charge, throwing for 104 yards and three touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. Sophomore Landon Dawson proved unstoppable, racking up 81 rushing yards, two receiving touchdowns, and three total scores on the night.
The Yellow Jackets’ ground attack dominated with 229 rushing yards, while the defense delivered constant pressure—recording five sacks and forcing multiple turnovers. Sophomore Greyson Deem and senior Luke Mullins also found the end zone to cap a well-rounded offensive effort.
Mt. Vernon improved to 6-2 on the season with the win, while Licking Heights fell to 1-7. The victory marked another step forward for the Yellow Jackets, who continue to build momentum heading into the final weeks of conference play.
