The Northridge Vikings secured a dramatic victory on Friday night, narrowly defeating Newark Catholic 29-28 in overtime during a conference matchup.

According to the game report, Northridge (4-2) relied heavily on its strong ground game, amassing 322 rushing yards. Junior Jayce Golden was instrumental in this effort, carrying the ball 25 times for 181 yards and scoring three touchdowns, including the decisive one in overtime. Senior Brayden Bingham contributed significantly with 138 rushing yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, providing the Vikings with a balanced offensive strategy.

Senior quarterback Ty Koehler supported the rushing attack by completing three passes for 29 yards. Junior Colton Isler was on the receiving end of all three completions, totaling 29 yards and adding eight tackles on defense.

The Vikings' defense played a crucial role as well. Senior Jacob Byers recorded 18 tackles, while senior Lincoln Walton and sophomore Spencer Orgill each achieved sacks. Walton added six tackles to his performance, and Orgill registered eight tackles in a determined display upfront. Special teams also made an impact with senior Charlie Kinkead successfully converting all three extra points and averaging 40 yards per punt.

Trailing 21-7 at halftime, Northridge mounted a comeback to force overtime and ultimately took control of the game. The victory positions the Vikings as formidable contenders in their conference race.
