Hailey Rudrick delivered a standout performance at the plate to lead Ohio Hawks National-Pentz 16U to an 8–6 victory over Select Fastpitch on Saturday.
Rudrick went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the first inning and a pair of singles in the second and sixth. Her first-inning blast to left field helped spark a two-run frame, which included an RBI single from Jocelyn Scarbury.
Select Fastpitch responded in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, but according to reports, the Hawks exploded for five runs in the second to take control. Keely Pollard drove in two during the rally, one of six hits in the inning that gave Ohio Hawks a 7–2 edge.
The Hawks built an 8–2 lead in the fourth before Select Fastpitch mounted a comeback, stringing together multiple RBI singles to cut the deficit. However, strong relief pitching from Emily Chevalier and solid defense helped Ohio maintain their lead.
Scarbury started in the circle for Ohio, allowing three runs and six hits over four innings with three strikeouts. Pollard and Scarbury each drove in two runs, while Rubi Almaguer tallied two hits and two stolen bases.
Both teams finished with 11 hits. Ohio Hawks National-Pentz 16U is set to face Indiana Shockwaves Tarver/Valentine 16U next.
