Freddies Baseball | Fredericktown High School Baseball/FB

Under a clear Thursday sky, the Fredericktown Freddies secured an early lead and maintained it, resulting in a 2-0 victory over North Union. The game was characterized by strong pitching performances and limited offensive opportunities.

According to the match details, the Freddies made their decisive move in the second inning. Zane Luckmeier hit a two-run double that ultimately determined the outcome of the game. This pivotal moment set the stage for Kaine Sheriff, whose performance on the mound was instrumental in maintaining Fredericktown's advantage.

Sheriff, a senior right-hander, delivered an impressive complete-game performance. Over seven innings, he allowed only two hits, issued one walk, and struck out seven batters. His efforts ensured that North Union could not recover from their early deficit.

North Union's pitcher Tyler Krebehenne also displayed commendable skill, keeping his team competitive through six innings. Despite allowing three hits and striking out six batters, Krebehenne could not overcome Luckmeier’s crucial double.

Luckmeier excelled offensively for Fredericktown, achieving a perfect 2-for-2 at-bat record and driving in both runs. The Freddies supported their pitcher with solid defense, including executing a smooth double play to stifle any potential comeback from North Union.

The Wildcats managed to threaten at times with hits from Miles Marlette and Austin McMahon. McMahon also demonstrated his speed with two stolen bases; however, these efforts were insufficient to change the game's outcome.

With this victory, Fredericktown continues to build momentum as they prepare for their next challenge against Amanda-Clearcreek on Tuesday. The team's success was underscored by Sheriff's exceptional pitching and Luckmeier’s timely hitting.
