The East Knox FFA of East Knox Local Schools announced that members Hailey Frazee and Jesse Wolford were awarded State FFA Degrees at the 97th annual Ohio FFA Convention.

According to the East Knox FFA, two members, Frazee and Wolford, received their State FFA Degrees at the convention—an honor achieved by only about 2% of FFA members nationwide. To earn this degree, students must submit a 14-page application evaluated at the county, district, and state levels. They must also meet several rigorous requirements: earning $2,500 and investing $2,000 through Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects, serving in FFA leadership or committees, participating in at least eight FFA events beyond the chapter level, completing 25 hours of community service, maintaining a strong GPA, and attending school at a 93% rate or higher.

Frazee completed job placements and home improvement projects, held leadership roles, and competed in multiple national-level events. Wolford raised market goats, worked on his family farm, served as chapter secretary, and participated in various FFA competitions, including a top 15 national team finish. These awards bring East Knox's total State Degree recipients to 114 since the chapter’s founding in 1964.

FFA stands for Future Farmers of America and is a youth organization focused on developing leadership skills, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Founded in 1928, it prepares members for careers in agriculture, business, science, education, and more. With local chapters led by student officers and agriculture teachers, FFA operates at three levels: local, state, and national. The organization provides hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for personal development.

East Knox Local School District is located in Howard, Ohio. It is home to the East Knox FFA Chapter which supports student development through agricultural education and leadership opportunities. The chapter recognizes achievements such as American and State Degrees and is led by a 2024-2025 officer team that includes Dylan Springer as President and Hayden Baker as Vice President. The chapter also organizes events like fruit and strawberry sales to support its activities.
