Fredericktown FFA members earn State FFA Degrees

Fredericktown FFA has announced that three of its members received State FFA Degrees at the State FFA Convention.

Jessica Cummings, a University of Findlay freshman majoring in pre-veterinary and animal science and daughter of Jay and Sarah Cummings, Austin Frazier, a Fredericktown High School junior and son of Leroy Frazier and Nicole Frazier, and Lane Dugan, also a junior and son of Matt and Courtney Dugan, were awarded State FFA Degrees at the State FFA Convention. To qualify for the State FFA Degree, recipients must have earned greenhand and chapter degrees, completed 35 hours of community service, participated in two Career Development Events, held a chapter office or committee chair position, and demonstrated 10 parliamentary procedure skills. Additionally, they must have net earnings over $3,000, invested at least $2,000, participated in eight activities beyond the chapter level, completed 25 hours of community service across two activities, maintained a GPA above 2.0, and achieved a 93% attendance rate.

The recent 97th Ohio FFA State Convention took place at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus. It brought together FFA chapters from across the state to celebrate achievements and organizational growth. The event featured leadership workshops, a career show, and sessions with motivational speakers discussing topics such as leadership and community impact.

Fredericktown High School, located in Fredericktown, Ohio, in Knox County, serves students in grades 9 through 12 as part of the Fredericktown Local School District. The school offers extracurricular activities, including 30 athletic teams, clubs, and 34 outdoor and after-school programs. It provides 14 STEAM courses focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, with a stated goal of supporting comprehensive student development, according to Fredericktown High School.

The Future Farmers of America (FFA) is an organization dedicated to fostering leadership and personal growth through agricultural education. Founded in 1928, it prepares members for various careers by offering hands-on learning experiences across local, state, and national levels.
