Walmart has announced plans to remodel 23 stores in Ohio in 2025, as part of its broader commitment to the state. This initiative is aimed at enhancing employee experience and community engagement. The announcement was made through a press release on April 23, 2025.

According to Walmart, the company intends to update more than 650 locations nationwide, with the Ohio remodels focusing on improving customer experience through new signage, expanded departments, enhanced online order services, and updated pharmacy areas. These updates are part of a continued investment strategy that has seen $815 million spent on store improvements in Ohio over the past five years. Cities such as Franklin, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Toledo are among those slated for remodeling; however, plans may change based on construction timelines.

"Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in," said Glenda Fleming Willis, Walmart's senior vice president for the North Business Unit. "By investing in our stores and associates, we are not only improving the shopping experience but also reinforcing our commitment to being a vital part of the community’s fabric."

Walmart employs nearly 58,000 people in Ohio and continues to invest in its workforce through bonuses, promotions, and benefits. In March alone, over 29,000 frontline associates received bonuses while thousands were promoted to higher or full-time roles. Most managers began their careers as hourly employees. Associates have access to education, healthcare benefits, savings plans, among other perks.

In addition to workforce investments, Walmart contributed $56.9 million to Ohio communities last year and supported local suppliers with $8.8 billion in purchases. The company also donated 28 million pounds of food to state food banks.

Walmart Inc., listed on the New York Stock Exchange under WMT, operates a global retail business that serves approximately 270 million customers weekly across 19 countries. As of fiscal year 2025, it reported $681 billion in revenue and employed about 2.1 million people worldwide. The company is active in sustainability efforts and charitable activities alongside workforce development initiatives.
