Centerburg Softball cruises past Loudonville, 13-1

The Centerburg varsity softball team secured a decisive 13-1 victory over Loudonville on Monday, driven by a robust 16-hit offensive performance and strong pitching from Morgan Beaver.

According to the game details, the Trojans initiated their scoring in the second inning with Lydia Gribben's double, which brought in a run. The team's offense remained consistent before erupting for six runs in the sixth inning. Chesnee Fairall and Kayla Ferrell each drew bases-loaded walks to score two runs, followed by a two-run single from Sydnee Schoonover. Gribben concluded the inning with her second double of the game, driving in two additional runs.

Gribben ended the game with three hits out of four at-bats and four RBIs from the ninth spot in the lineup. Harley Webb also achieved three hits out of four at-bats, while Abby Herren, Jazmyn Larimore, and Schoonover recorded multiple hits. Centerburg’s disciplined approach at the plate resulted in five walks.

Beaver delivered an impressive performance on the mound, allowing one run on six hits over six innings. The right-hander struck out eight batters without issuing any walks.

Loudonville's sole run was contributed by Addi, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jacelyn led Loudonville with two hits in three at-bats. Defensively, Loudonville managed to turn two double plays to mitigate further damage.

Loudonville starter Alesha conceded 12 hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out one batter and walking another.

With this win, Centerburg builds momentum as they prepare for an away game against Cardington-Lincoln on Wednesday. The victory highlighted Centerburg’s depth at bat and solid pitching capabilities—both crucial elements as they progress through the season. Gribben’s outstanding performance and Beaver’s efficiency on the mound were pivotal factors in a game that Centerburg dominated from the second inning onward.
