Habitat for Humanity of Knox County has opened the application cycle for its Homeownership Program. Applications can be accessed at www.hfhknoxoh.org, where details about the program and qualifications are available.

The program aims to help individuals and families in need of safe, stable, and affordable housing. Applicants must meet criteria related to income, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, need, and willingness to partner. Successful applicants will have the chance to purchase a home with an affordable mortgage at low interest rates.

Applications submitted during this cycle are intended for those planning to move into homes within the next one to two years. The homes under construction are part of Habitat’s Columbus Road project in Mount Vernon, developed in partnership with the Knox County Land Bank.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend a virtual Homeowner Information Session via Google Meet. These sessions will cover Habitat’s mission, program requirements, and application steps. Sessions are scheduled for May 6, May 8, and May 12 at 6:00 PM.

Applications must be received or postmarked by May 31, 2025. Terry Schulz, Affiliate Director of Habitat for Humanity of Knox County said: "The Homeownership Program is the basis of what we do, but it is so much more than building a house; it is about building stability not only for the families we partner with but for the entire community." Schulz encourages those in need of safe housing to attend an information session.
