Kayla Ferrell went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, leading the Centerburg Trojans varsity softball team to a decisive 19-3 victory over East Knox on Thursday.

According to the game details, Ferrell doubled in the first inning, singled in the fourth, and added another single in the fifth. This contributed significantly to Centerburg’s 15-hit offensive performance. The Trojans began strongly, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning. Errors by East Knox facilitated early scoring opportunities, followed by RBI hits from Ferrell, Sydnee Schoonover, and Lydia Gribben.

Centerburg continued their momentum by adding two more runs in the second inning with RBI singles from Jazmyn Larimore and Taylor Bryant. They extended their lead to 9-2 in the third inning with another run-scoring single by Larimore. In the fifth inning, Centerburg scored six additional runs through a combination of a Ferrell single, two errors, a groundout by Hannah Harry, and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to Chesnee Fairall.

Right-hander Anna Daubert secured the win for Centerburg by allowing one run on four hits over four innings while striking out three batters. Abby Herren started as pitcher and conceded two runs on one hit in one inning. Ava Faucett took the loss for East Knox after surrendering 19 runs — eight earned — on 15 hits over 4 2/3 innings. She struck out two batters and walked three.

Ferrell and Herren each collected three hits during the game, while Emma Shaw and Ferrell drove in two runs each. Herren also stole two bases. Larimore finished with two hits in three at-bats. Cloe Tucker led East Knox with a 2-for-3 performance from her position as leadoff hitter.

Centerburg is scheduled to travel to Reynoldsburg for its next game on Friday.
