Fredericktown softball shuts out East Knox in 10-0 victory

The Fredericktown varsity softball team secured a decisive 10-0 victory over East Knox on Monday, showcasing strong performances both offensively and defensively.

According to the game details, the Freddies took an early lead with Kelsey Bell driving in a run on a single in the first inning. They expanded their advantage to 2-0 in the second inning when Tiona Over scored after tagging up. Abbey Wittman contributed with a two-run single in the third inning, increasing the lead to 4-0.

Fredericktown widened the gap significantly in the fourth inning by scoring five runs on three hits. Kennedy Algire grounded out to bring in a run, Sammie Hughes added two more with a single, and a wild pitch allowed two additional runs to score.

Taylor Brown earned the win for Fredericktown by pitching three hitless innings, recording four strikeouts and two walks. Algire was credited with the save. East Knox’s starting pitcher, Faucett, gave up nine hits and nine runs over three and one-third innings while issuing five walks.

Fredericktown amassed 11 hits during the game. Bell, Aubree Whitley, and Algire each recorded two hits. Wittman and Algire led with two RBIs each, while Wittman also drew two walks. The team demonstrated discipline at the plate with five total walks and aggressive base running, successfully stealing five bases. Bell and Over each had multiple steals.

Defensively, Fredericktown performed flawlessly without committing any errors. Hughes led defensively with six chances handled successfully.

The Freddies are scheduled to travel to Triway on Tuesday for their next game.
