Despite a strong performance from pitcher Nolan Ridgway and timely hitting by Josh Byers, the Danville Varsity Blue Devils narrowly lost 5-3 to Northridge on Friday.
According to the game report, Ridgway provided Danville with a competitive chance on the mound, allowing just two earned runs over 4 1/3 innings while striking out two and walking one. He also contributed offensively by securing one of the Blue Devils’ three hits during the game.
Byers led the offensive effort for Danville, going 1-for-3 and driving in two runs. Clayton Vance added another hit, helping keep the Blue Devils within reach throughout the contest. Northridge capitalized on a pair of extra-base hits in the third inning to establish an early lead and maintained it with a strong performance from starter S. Miller, who struck out eight over three innings.
Danville’s defense faced pressure but continued to battle as the Vikings found ways to manufacture runs and employed aggressive base running to maintain their advantage. The Blue Devils aim to recover on Saturday when they travel to face Newark Catholic.
