Fredericktown splits doubleheader against Crestview

The Fredericktown Freddies softball team split a doubleheader against the Crestview Knights on Saturday. They lost the first game 11-8 but secured a 6-5 victory in the second match.

In the opening game, despite out-hitting Crestview 14-7, Fredericktown fell short. The Freddies initially took an early lead in the top of the first inning, powered by two home runs. Taylor Brown put Fredericktown on the scoreboard with a solo shot to right field. According to reports, Crestview responded in the bottom of the second with a significant inning, capitalizing on walks, errors, and key hits. The Knights took control after several plays, including an RBI single by Ringler and a stolen home plate by Endicott, resulting in an 8-5 scoreline.

Fredericktown’s Kennedy Algire pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out three. Brown started the game for Fredericktown, surrendering three hits and eight runs—only three earned—over one and one-third innings. The Freddies’ offense was led by Jazzy Wittman, Kennedy Algire, Kelsey Bell, Taylor Brown, Olivia Harris, and Tiona Over, each recording two hits. Wittman drove in three runs with a 2-for-4 performance. For Crestview, Patton led with three RBIs while Ringler added two hits. The Knights benefited from seven walks.

In Game 2, Fredericktown rebounded with a narrow victory over Crestview. They built their lead in the fourth inning through contributions from Tiona Over's triple and Abbey Wittman's single. Haile Mull also contributed with a groundout that brought in another run. Crestview attempted to rally back when Hammon hit a solo home run to center field during the fourth inning; however, Fredericktown maintained their advantage.

Algire pitched a complete game for Fredericktown in this matchup as well, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four batters. On Crestview's side of things: Patton allowed four runs on ten hits over four-and-two-thirds innings.

Taylor Brown had an impressive performance at bat for Fredericktown going perfect at 4-for-4 leading their eleven-hit effort overall; meanwhile Abbey Wittman added two more alongside her three RBIs contribution too! Jazzy Wittman chipped-in similarly adding another pair herself just like before! Hammon paced things up front within those ranks belonging unto him via his own trio RIBs achieved throughout these contests likewise shared amongst teammates such as Ringler & White who collected pairs themselves respectively!
