Christine K. “Christy” Samples-Bennett, age 71, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1953, in Mount Vernon and was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret (Colopy) Samples.
Christy graduated from Danville High School, Franklin University and Ashland University with a masters in business administration. She had been employed with Ariel Corporation, The Longaberger Company and Victoria’s Secret Stores. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America and growing up was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
Her interests included gardening, decorating her home, traveling, hosting friends & family, and her beloved book club. She will be remembered for her generosity, friendship, and her contributions to organizations and individuals in need.
Christine is survived by her brother, James (Deborah) Samples; sister, Connie Samples; niece, Kim (Gabe) Aufrance and their children, Luke (Olivia) Ogi, Cale Ogi, Kiegen Aufrance and Emersen Aufrance, nephews, Joshua Samples, and his daughter, Shelby (Dakota) Samples, Brandon (Kristin) Samples, and their sons, Logan, Andrew, Bennett, and Zack Samples, Don (Rebekah) Samples, and their children, Sam, Sadie, and Siena Samples; along with her beloved dog, Bowie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Bennett, in 2007.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon. Where funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. with Father Homer Blubaugh officiating. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery.
