Arthur Ray Duncan, age 85, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Sunday morning, July 20, 2025.

Arthur was born in Athens, Ohio, on September 26, 1939, to the late Otho and Ethel (Hendrickson) Duncan.

He proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy during the height of the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Arthur took great pride in his military service, often displaying the awards and patches he had earned. Over the years, he also collected Navy memorabilia as a tribute to his time in uniform.

On May 4, 1968, Arthur married the love of his life, Linda Duncan, in Sparta, Ohio. They shared 48 wonderful years of marriage until Linda’s passing in 2016.

Following his military service, Arthur took up the family trade of plastering. He spent his career honing his craft across various companies and took immense pride in his work. His skill and dedication were recognized in 2001 when he received the Builders Exchange Craftsmanship Award from the Gilbane Building Company.

In his leisure time, Arthur enjoyed collecting watches, coins, and baseball cards. He also considered himself a cook, well known for serving delicious breakfasts—especially his homemade biscuits and gravy. He had a particular fondness for a good slice of pie, which reminded him of his mother Ethel’s world-class baking. Arthur was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Guardians.

More than anything, Arthur cherished his family. He was deeply devoted to his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life.

Words like quiet, wise, funny, caring, and introspective only begin to describe the remarkable man Arthur was. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Arthur is survived by his daughters, Angela Hall, Carmen Duncan, and Ginger Brady; grandchildren, Kylie Bennett, Nick Gould, Tori Hall, Trent Hall, Cassie Brady, Jordan Brady, Parker Brady, and Brenden Stalcup; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Bartolotta and Layton Feeney; brother, Keith Duncan; and sister, Patty Pontius.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Duncan, and his brother, Ernie Duncan.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, located at the intersection of SR 3 and 61 in Sunbury. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Bloomfield Cemetery.
