Mount Vernon High School senior Ainsley Bonaudi is making a significant impact in Ohio through her Global Scholars project, The Swap Map. This initiative showcases various swap events across the state, offering families the chance to exchange items and reduce landfill waste.

Ainsley’s project emphasizes sustainability and community support by giving clothing a second life instead of contributing to waste. She has personally hosted four successful clothing swaps, rescuing over 3,000 items from being discarded. Her Swap Map has grown into a resource that connects organizations statewide interested in hosting or participating in clothing exchanges. This effort helps reduce textile waste while offering free clothing and essentials to families in need.

“Swapping is an effective, sustainable, and affordable way to connect with all members of your community,” said Ainsley. “Through the Global Scholars program, I’ve gained so much insight, and I highly encourage high school sophomores to reach out to Mr. Tocheff for more information about this incredible program.”

The Swap Map is quickly gaining attention and aims to help even more Ohioans reduce waste while connecting them with others who share a passion for sustainable living. Ainsley’s initiative continues to promote eco-friendly alternatives to traditional consumerism and provide an opportunity for families to access items they need without the burden of cost.
