Danville Middle and High School will host a Back-to-School Immunization Clinic on Monday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the middle and high school building.

The clinic is open to help students meet required immunizations before the new school year begins. Families are encouraged to take advantage of this convenient opportunity to ensure their students’ vaccinations are up to date.

Ohio’s school immunization requirements help protect children from serious diseases. Students in grades K-12 must have four or more doses of DTaP or DT vaccines to guard against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. Three doses of the hepatitis B vaccine are required to prevent liver damage.

Two doses of the MMR vaccine protect against measles, mumps and rubella. Children must also have three or more doses of the IPV vaccine to protect against polio. Two doses of the varicella vaccine help prevent chickenpox. Older students must receive a Tdap booster for grades 7-12 and meningococcal vaccines starting in grade 7, with a second dose needed in grade 12.

Parents can find additional medical forms and information on the district’s website at danvilleschools.org/documents/district/medical-forms/610074.

For questions, families should contact the school nurse’s office ahead of the clinic date.
