Mount Vernon left no doubt at the Dublin Jerome All-North Tournament, delivering a dominant performance to claim the team title with an impressive 215.5 points. The Yellow Jackets outpaced their nearest competitor, Upper Arlington, by more than 60 points, showcasing their depth and talent across multiple weight classes.
Mount Vernon’s strong showing was fueled by four individual championships, with Caleb Snyder (106), Mason Mitchell (150), Mavrik Gregory (157), Jake Taylor (165), and Alex Taylor (285) all securing first-place finishes in their respective divisions. Their relentless attack on the mat was evident throughout the tournament, as they not only won but did so in commanding fashion.
Yellow Jackets Take Control Early
From the opening rounds, Mount Vernon established itself as the team to beat. Caleb Snyder set the tone at 106 pounds, pinning Worthington Kilbourne’s Caden Steinbeck in just 49 seconds, giving his team an early boost. The momentum continued as Mason Mitchell (150) and Mavrik Gregory (157) dominated their opponents, both winning by fall and tech fall, respectively. Gregory’s 20-4 tech fall over Wester. Central’s Rylan Moran was particularly impressive, demonstrating his technical prowess and aggressive style.
At 165 pounds, Jake Taylor continued the Yellow Jackets’ streak, overwhelming Utica’s Breyden Hill with a 17-2 tech fall. In the heavyweight division, Alex Taylor (285) capped off Mount Vernon’s night in emphatic fashion, pinning LJ Cates of Grove City in just 1:40. Though Luke Mullins (215) fell short in the finals, his strong performance helped add critical points to Mount Vernon’s overall total.
Depth and Dominance Secure the Title
While individual champions played a major role in Mount Vernon’s victory, the team’s depth set them apart from the competition. The Yellow Jackets consistently placed wrestlers in the later rounds, securing valuable placement points that widened the gap between them and the rest of the field.
Upper Arlington finished a distant second with 153 points, while Westland rounded out the top three with 148 points. However, neither team could match Mount Vernon’s balanced attack across multiple weight classes.
A Statement Performance

The Yellow Jackets have been building momentum, and their performance in this tournament only reinforces their status as one of the top programs in the region.
