The 43rd annual Food for the Hungry Drive has successfully raised over $300,000 as of December 18. However, the drive will continue through December 31, allowing residents and organizations additional time to contribute monetary and food donations.

According to a press release from Food for the Hungry, these donations will support Interchurch Social Services, The Salvation Army, and numerous other food assistance initiatives. A live broadcast of Food for the Hungry took place on December 13, with video available at www.mvnu.tv.

The press release indicates that financial contributions can be made via the Food for the Hungry website at foodforthehungry.org or sent by mail to WRP CPAs at 1684 Venture Dr, Ste B, Mt Vernon, OH 43050 (Designated Food for the Hungry).

The statement also outlines the top ten food items most needed by Knox County food pantries: soup (pop-top cans or packages), jelly, canned meals (such as ravioli and Spaghettios), breakfast foods (including cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix), canned fruit, canned vegetables, pasta/egg noodles, side dishes (boxed or packaged), peanut butter, and pasta sauce.

Additionally, sixteen organizations received a total of $35,500 from Food for the Hungry Winter Grants and were featured on Food for the Hungry Live.
