The Mt. Vernon Yellow Jackets, coming off a loss last week, will take on Licking Valley this Friday at the usual start time of 7:00 p.m.
Mt. Vernon fell by a score of 14-7 at the hands of Licking Heights last week. The Yellow Jackets are now on a two game losing streak and are looking to rebound as the end of the season nears.
Mt. Vernon was a dominant force on the ground and finished the game with 321 total rushing yards. The Yellow Jackets have now rushed for over 150 rushing yards in four straight match-ups.
Backup quarterback Mason Richards had another amazing game last week, and continued to show off his skill, and what is to come next season when he takes the reins as he rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown all the while averaging seven and a half yards per carry. The dominant performance gave Richards a new career-high in rushing yards. Richards was followed up in rushing yards with another massive game from running back Mavrik Gregory, who rushed for 119 yards.
Mount Vernon's opponent this week, Licking Valley, is riding a six game winning streak, as last week they defeated the undefeated Granville Blue Aces 22-19.
The Yellow Jackets sit with a 2-6 going into this week's match-up while Licking Valley has won three straight home games and only has one loss on the season with a record of 7-1.
