The Kenyon College women’s soccer team has a new face at the helm, with Sarah McClellan coming on to be sixth head coach in the program’s history.
“Our goal will be to develop and achieve as students, athletes, and leaders. It's going to be a fun journey for sure,” McClellan said in a release by Kenyon College. “We will be recruiting people that want to be challenged as students with an academic passion to excel, athletes that want to improve and compete as players at a national level, and teammates and leaders who value personal growth and service.”
McClellan was head coach at Roberts Wesleyan University for eight season and will start her time with the Owls on August 1, according to an announcement by Kenyon College Director of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation Jill McCartney through a release by the college.
McClellan boasted a record of 24-7-5 over the last two years at Roberts Wesleyan, and over her career she was 63-47-15 with the team. Her teams were East Coast Conference semifinalists four times and were twice National Christian College Athletic Association semifinalists. Her teams had 18 all-conference players and were nationally ranked in Division II four times. They also won seven consecutive United Soccer Coaches Tram Academic Awards.
Before her time at Roberts Wesleyan, McClellan coached Division I Binghamton University, and in 2009 they had their best regular season ever.
Last year she was named the ECC Coach of the Year and the NCCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year.
