Knox County Republicans chose Westlake auto dealer Bernie Moreno over Ohio Secretary of State Frank La Rose and Chagrin Falls State Senator Matt Dolan, in a competitive Ohio U.S. Senate primary.
Of 11,356 ballots cast, Moreno received 5,037 (47.4 percent) to 3,485 (32.8 percent) for Dolan and 2,105 (19.8 percent) for La Rose.
Statewide, Moreno won 553,674 votes (50.5 percent) to 360,197 (32.9 percent) for Dolan and 182,441 (16.6 percent) for La Rose.
Moreno won Licking County with 51 percent, to 33 percent for Dolan and 16 percent for La Rose.
Moreno won Morrow County with 48 percent, to 32 percent for Dolan and 19 percent for La Rose.
Moreno won Richland County with 51 percent, to 30 percent for Dolan and 19 percent for La Rose.
In May 2022, U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance carried a seven-way primary with 35 percent of the vote (2,852 votes), besting Josh Mandel (26 percent/2,072 votes), Dolan (20 percent/1,589) and Mike Gibbons (13 percent/1,045).
