The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging has initiated a program, Healthy Aging Grants, aimed at providing resources for Knox County residents aged 60 years and above. These resources may include transportation assistance, utility bill payments, chore services, among others.

According to a post on the Knox County Facebook page, the assistance provided may extend to utilities, property taxes, deposits or rent. Additionally, chores such as heavy or deep cleaning, bug extermination and vehicle/transportation cost assistance are included in the program. The grant also covers support and education related to internet usage and equipment costs. Residents can avail help with enrollment in wellness and physical programs, emergency response systems and the Knox Box - a system that allows first responders to enter homes without forced entry.

The same Facebook post also notes that funding is limited and assistance will be based upon identified needs and availability of funds.

For further information regarding this initiative, Meredith Lowther, director of The Station Break can be contacted at 740-397-3841 as per another post on the Knox County Facebook page.
