Nominations are now being accepted for the 2026 Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year Award, and Knox County residents are eligible to participate.
The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is seeking to recognize senior citizens who volunteer their time to help others. The deadline for nominations is April 3, 2026. According to the agency, award recipients from a nine-county area—including Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot—will be honored.
Nominees must be at least 60 years old, legal residents of Ohio for at least five years, and have made significant contributions to their community. The agency said that a husband and wife may receive the award jointly if both have been involved in community service. One Outstanding Senior Citizen Award will be presented for each county in the service area.
Additional information and an online nomination form can be found on the Area Agency on Aging website or by contacting Sue Montgomery at 567-247-6458 or [email protected]. More details are available on the agency's website.
The program aims to highlight and honor those who have made meaningful impacts through volunteerism in their communities.
