Charlie Sargent of Centerburg, middle took first in the 285 class at the inaugural Centerburg Invitational Wrestling Tournament. | Coach Alec Szanati

Centerburg High School hosted the first ever Centerburg Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 27, and Trojan Coach Alec Szanati was not only happy with his team’s fourth place finish but also for how the event went off without a hitch.

“A huge shout out to the entire program for making this weekend possible,” Coach Szanati said on the following Monday. “We received numerous compliments this weekend from our outstanding hospitality room to the tournament running smoothly, to the table workers and everything in between. It truly takes a village to pull off a quality event, let alone two quality events over the weekend, as our youth tournament was hosted today. Thank you all for making this possible. Looking forward to making this a yearly tradition.”
