Mary Louise (White) Miller | Provided

Mary Louise (White) Miller, 94, born September 24, 1929, in Wellsville, Ohio, passed away December 30, 2023, Howard Ohio.

There will be no calling hours, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am and the gathering at 12:00 pm for friends and family. Location will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Temple, 21453 Floralwood Drive, Howard, Ohio (off Monroe Mills Rd). Memorial contributions may be made to MVBT Scholarship Program.

Mary lived her life in Mansfield, attending the city’s primary schools, and was a member of the Mansfield Senior High graduating class of 1947, (The Atomic class) Go Tygers. Mary was a housewife and loving mother to four children. Not until later in life did she accomplish her life long ambition of being a nurse. She was in the first class held at Mansfield General Hospital LPN Program, which at the time cost a whopping $500.00 (My, how things have changed).

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and sang in the choir one Sunday short of thirty years. Her musical talent didn’t stop with her Heavenly singing. In 1989’s Mansfield Town Roast, while not accredited with “Lyrics written by column,” she had the honor of her lyric being chosen for the opening number, which set the theme for the entire production. With help from letters to the Editor and a very proud son, “I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the creator of such wit and rhyme. Congratulations, Mary L. Miller, way to go Mom!" (and now you know the rest of the story, even Paul Harvey would have been proud!)

In 1999, Mary moved west to Cave Creek, Arizona with her youngest son in search of warmer weather. Enjoying many hours in the sun and pool. Family matters brought us back to Ohio where we built new homes on our properties in Apple Valley, outside of Mount Vernon in Howard, Ohio in 2006.

Wife to one, mother to four, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Maynard, son Robert, and daughter Arrinda. Surviving are son, Dr. James E. Miller O.D., Cookeville, TN and son William E. Miller of Howard, Ohio. Four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
