Whether we live in the city, suburbs or rural areas, most Ohioans believe we should work together to address problems and issues. We also deeply value the idea of majority rule.

Ohio citizens have decisively voted in favor of women’s reproductive rights, including the right to abortion. Yet, there is likely no other issue in our country right now that is as divisive, evoking deep and passionate feelings on both sides. Is it possible that both those who supported and those who opposed Issue 1 might now adopt a common goal: to reduce unwanted pregnancies?

There are effective strategies and programs in use that reduce unwanted pregnancies. Can we now turn some of our attention and passion toward adoption of policies and programs that work to reduce unwanted pregnancies?

We can all help to promote this goal. We can talk with our family, friends, or neighbors about this goal. We can contact local officeholders and our state legislators to advocate for the goal of reduced unwanted pregnancies. We can come together to find common ground and to confirm our belief in majority rule.

Can we agree to come together with the goal of reducing unwanted pregnancies? Can we have respectful dialog in our local communities, including voices from diverse points of view?
