The Mount Vernon volleyball team (16-6, 11-3) had its final game of the regular season against Olentangy Berlin on Monday, and while it was a non-conference matchup against a team with a lower record, the Yellow Jackets fell 3-1 to the Bears.
The Bears won 25-17 in the first set, but the Yellow Jackets responded with a 25-14 win in set two. Set three was a 25-19 win for the Bears, followed by a 25-21 set four win to take the match.
Jurnie Gleason led Mount Vernon with 11 kills, 11 digs and four aces. Tori Burdette had 26 assists and 12 digs. Audrey Stuller recorded a team high 24 digs.
Next up for Mount Vernon is round of the Division 1, Central 4 Sectional/District tournament, where the No. 12 Yellow Jackets host No. 35 Reynoldsburg on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. If they win they take on the winner of No. 16 Canal Winchester and No. 31 Pataskala Licking Heights on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m., with the location to be announced.
