Mount Vernon City Schools has implemented a new policy requiring that all elementary and middle school students attending football games be accompanied by an adult. The decision was made by Superintendent William Seder Jr. in response to disruptive behaviors and congestion in common areas during games.

In a statement on the school district's website, Seder emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment. He stated, "Starting immediately, we are asking that all elementary and middle school students attending Mount Vernon High School football games be accompanied by a parent or a responsible adult."

The school district has noticed a rise in disruptive behaviors and congestion, which has been attributed to unsupervised younger fans. In order to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, Seder believes it is necessary to implement this new policy.

Seder also addressed the issue of congestion, requesting that students remain in the stands during the games and avoid congregating in common areas. He acknowledged that these changes may require some adjustment but emphasized that they are necessary to create a positive and secure atmosphere for all students and fans.

The new policy is in effect immediately and will be enforced at all future football games. Mount Vernon City Schools hopes that by implementing this policy, they will be able to reduce disruptive behaviors and improve the overall experience for everyone in attendance.
