Northmor dominates East Knox with Bower-Wenger connection in 27-6 victory

Northmor (5-2, 3-1) cruised to a 27-6 win over East Knox (4-3, 3-1) in KMAC action on Friday night, with the duo of quarterback AJ Bower and wide receiver Jax Wenger connecting for three touchdowns.

The Golden Knights went up 14-0 in the first quarter with Bower connecting to Jax Wenger twice, once for 27 yards and another for nine yards. Caleb Schnuerer hit both extra points.

In the second quarter Schnuerer nailed a 40 yard field goal to go up 17-0 at halftime. He also hit a 32 yard field goal in the third quarter to make it a 20-0 game, but the Bulldogs got on the board with a five yard touchdown pass by Jaxon Lester to Caden Wengerd. Bower hit Wenger for the third touchdown of the day for the duo, this time on a 26-yard pass. Schnuerer made the point after and it sealed the win.

Bower was 18-for-28 for 255 yards, three touchdown and an interception. Wenger tallied seven catches for 106 yards and three touchdowns, and also had 51 kick return yards and 34 punt return yards. Bo Landin reeled in three receptions for 83 yards. Hunter Fulk caught two passes for 35 yards. 

Paul Cramer led the rushing attack for Northmor with five carries for 30 yards, and led the team with 11 tackles. Ryan Lowry had 10 tackles while Cameron Goldbach had two sacks.

East Knox was led by Blake Elliott with 18 carries for 116 yards. Lester was 5-for-16 passing with a touchdown and an interception, and 36 yards. He had 14 carries for 34 yards. Bracen Davis caught two passes for 20 yards.

On defense for the Bulldogs, Elliott had a game high 15 tackles with two for a loss. Bryar Householder had 11 tackles and four for a loss, and had three sacks. Shane Gardner recorded 10 tackles. Davis stepped in front of a pass for an interception and had four tackles.

Bower has been one of the best players in KMAC this year, leading the conference with 1400 yards, 20 touchdowns, to go with a completion percentage of 61%. Wenger has caught 23 passes for 417 yards and eight touchdowns, and Landin has 19 catches, 466 yards and eight scores.
