MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has appointed Amy Seward as its new deputy director.
Her appointment as deputy director is effective immediately. As part of the agency’s leadership team, she will be pivotal in ensuring that the Knox County EMA safeguards the community during emergencies and remains prepared for any crisis, according to a Knox EMA press release.
“Amy’s deep-rooted connection to the community and impressive background in emergency preparedness makes her a perfect fit for the role of Deputy Director. We believe that her skills and experience will be invaluable to the agency and the people of Knox County. According to the release, we are thrilled to have her on our team,” EMA Director James DeChant said.
Seward previously spent 17 months serving Knox Public Health as its Emergency Preparedness coordinator and Safe Communities coordinator.
Before her position with Knox Public Health, she spent 7½ years in a civilian support role with the Ohio National Guard’s Family Readiness Office.
The Knox EMA release reported that Seward displayed exceptional leadership skills, a clear understanding of crisis management, and a solid commitment to community safety in her previous positions.
She is originally from the area and lives outside Fredericktown with her husband, Andrew, and their two sons, Miles and Emerson. She graduated from Fredericktown High School and later earned her degree in Agricultural Education from The Ohio State University.
