Mount Vernon 15, Mansfield 1

The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets (13-5, 8-1) tamed the Mansfield Tygers (1-7, 0-6) on April 27, with a 15-1 blowout, no-hitting them in the process.

Winning for the fourth straight game, the Lady Jackets allowed a run in the first to Mansfield on a two-base error, a wild pitch and a ground out, then Grace Bates, Addi Parker and Miranda Oswalt shut down the Tygers completely, combining for a no-hitter, walking one and striking out six.

Down 1-0, the Lady Jackets tied it in the bottom of the first on a lead off single by Kennedi Endsley, a stolen base, a passed ball and a sac fly by Hailey Rudrick. After Bates struck out the side in the top of the second, MV took the lead for good in their half on a one-out single by Presli Pope and a two-out hit batter (Mia Rieder), followed by a single by Endsley to make it 2-1. Another hit batter (Rudrick) loaded the bases and McKenzie Krownapple turned the game into a blowout with a grand slam home run to left to make it 6-1, and the Lady Jackets kept piling it on from there, adding three in the third and six more in the fourth to rout the Tygers.

Offensively, 11 Lady Jackets got hits. Krownapple went 2-for-2 and drove in four with her grand slam, Endsley went 3-for-4, scored three runs and stole four bases and Pope went 3-for 3 with three runs scored and two RBIs to lead MV's attack.

Bates pitched four innings, allowed the unearned run and one walk, whiffing three. Parker pitched 2/3 of the inning and struck out both batters she faced and Oswalt finished striking out the last batter of the game.
