MOUNT VERNON — Dora Lee (Charlton) Rinehart, 96, died peacefully in her sleep from natural causes associated with Alzheimer’s disease in Dunwoody, Georgia, on March 22, 2023.

Dora Lee was an only child and was born in Brewster, Ohio, to Raymond “Peck” Charlton and Dorothy Amanda (Moses) Charlton on Oct. 5, 1926. She was a graduate of Amity High School in Amity, Ohio, where she met her husband, Earl Rinehart. Earl and Dora Lee resided in Mount Vernon for their entire 54 years of marriage. Dora Lee moved closer to her only daughter and grandsons in Georgia following Earl’s death.

Dora Lee excelled at trivia and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed gardening, nature and her grandchildren. She and Earl raised and showed pugs for many years.

Dora Lee was proceeded in death by her husband, Earl, and her parents, Raymond and Dorothy. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Rinehart McGuire and son-in-law Mark McGuire of Sandy Springs, Georgia; and her grandsons, James McGuire of Seattle and John “Jack” McGuire of Sandy Springs.

Dora Lee will be cremated and interred at Amity Cemetery with her husband and parents. Family members will have a private celebration of her life.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts are made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
