HOWARD – Paul J. Elder, 69, of Howard, passed away on Jan. 4, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on Dec. 4, 1953, in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
He has been happily married to the love of his life, Sue (Davis) Elder since 1998. Paul owned and operated Curfman Heating and Cooling in Mount Vernon for over 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, watching NASCAR and The Ohio State Buckeyes and playing with Button, his cat. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and telling elaborate (and sometimes slightly embellished) stories.
Paul is survived by not only his wife, but his children Michelle (Joe) Ingrassia of Hilliard, Ruthann (Andrew) Salera of Riverside, California, Tina (Tom) Corrigan of Mount Vernon and Jessica Combs of Cleveland; brother Jack (Linda) Elder of Fredericktown; grandchildren David, Nicholas, Charlotte, Wesley, Joe, Madison (Cody) and Colleen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph W. and Mary (Smith) Elder.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a service to follow at 6 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
