MOUNT VERNON – Joan Ellen Jones, 80, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at her home with family by her side. She was born in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 4, 1942, to the late William and Marie (Colfield) Canova.
Joan retired from the Mount Vernon City Schools where she drove a bus for many years. She also worked for H and R Block for several years during tax season. Joan’s hobbies included cross stitch, quilting and anything that was craft related. She won many awards at the county fair.
Joan is survived by her husband, Hugh Art Jones; her children, Karen (Thomas) Hill of Indiana, Terry (Susan) Kincer of Washington, Bill Kincer of Mount Vernon, Tony Kincer of Loudonville and Jenny Kincer of Columbus; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, William Canova.
A private burial will be observed in Mound View Cemetery.
