Knox County Symphony to hold Halloween feast, concert

The Knox County Symphony's Fabulous Fall Halloween Feast is set for Saturday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m., to be followed by the symphony's Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the President's Dining Room on the campus of Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Diners may enjoy the meal and a short autumn walk to the concert after dinner.

A presentation featuring chef J.D. Oyster will include the following selections:

  • Classic Caesar salad on a bed of romaine topped with rich and tangy dressing
  • Rosemary garlic pork loin with herbed cream gravy served on the side
  • Marinated chicken breast grilled and served with boursin cream sauce
  • Vegan and gluten free spaghetti squash pasta marinara
  • Creamy homestyle red skinned mashed potatoes
  • Oven roasted vegetable medley with squash, zucchini, red bell pepper and onion
  • Rolls and butter
  • Homemade pecan pie with swirled whipped cream
  • Homemade cherry pie a la mode
  • Iced tea, coffee (regular and decaf) and hot tea.

Cost is $30 per person.

A portion of the $30 will benefit the Knox County Symphony.

Knox County Symphony Fall Concert, R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium on the campus of MVNU at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The musical selections will include:

  • Overture to Egmont, Ludwig van Beethoven
  • Music from the film "Encanto," Lin-Manuel Miranda/arranged Larry Moore
  • Night on Bald Mountain, Modest Mussorgsky
  • Symphony No. 8 in G Major, op. 88, Antonín Dvořák
