A weekly interfaith mini-peace camp for children is happening this fall in Mount Vernon. The COVID pandemic caused the cancellation of a popular interfaith-friendly summer peace camp for children three years in a row. That summer camp, called Peace Village, was led by First Congregational Church.
"We are excited to be offering a mini-peace camp this fall,” said the Rev. Scott Elliott, pastor of the church. “Because of the continued threat COVID posed in the winter when we usually plan the camp, we decided for safety reasons we needed to cancel the camp again in 2022.
“Later in the spring as COVID started to subside, we started to think outside the box and decided to try a different approach and gear up for mini-camps each Sunday in the fall,” he said.
